Still a great palette knife, it is my primary palette knife tool.
I've been using the Bob Ross palette knife for many years, so long that I had worn it down so that it was a tad rounded, and not as straight as I'd like. So I bought another one here. Still a great knife, although this one wasn't quite as razor flat as I would expect, it seemed to have a very slight roughness to it on the large edge. I couldn't feel it with my finger, but when trying to scrape up oil paint off a glass palette, it would leave quite a bit behind. I actually sanded it down with some fine sand paper, and after using it for a couple weeks, it seems to have smoothed out much better. Still a great knife, just make sure it's as sharp and straight as it's supposed to be (the first one I bought many years ago was perfect).I have a whole cup full of palette knives, and I use the Bob Ross one 95% of the time. The way it functions just makes sense to me moreso than the standard trowel-shaped palette knives.

cant go wrong with bob ross
This painting knife is constructed well & any painter will enjoy adding it to their painting tools. My son has always loved watching bob ross paint so I was happy to find that I could order this knife on amazon and have it here for christmas. The knife arrived quickly and will be well used at our house. It can add the small details, like sticks or shading, that will enhance your painting. Very good product at a good price.

Wet-On-Wet Requires The Proper Tools
This is a Bob Ross designed item that's unique. He included angles and surfaces that make painting look easy. "Ordinary" paint knives can't compare to this improved technology tool. If you plan to try "wet-on-wet" as done by Bill Alexander and Bob Ross, this is the knife design you want, and you'll want it in both the #10 as well as the #5. The little one gets into places too small for its larger cousin. I suppose you could try using a putty knife, but "why?" when for a modest investment you could enjoy using the "right tool for the job."

You already know why I bought this...
Admittedly, the nostalgia factor played into this purchase. I was in need of a new detail paint knife, and decided to show some love to the man I watched paint, everyday after school. Plus, the price was in line with others, and this one is made in Japan. I assumed the quality would be better than most, and that's pretty much the case. I had hoped the handle would be plastic or polymer, but it's painted wood. Time will tell if the finish can keep the material from warping after washing, or becoming rough to the skin.
