Very happy with this cutter
It seems pretty robust and accurate so far and is reasonably easy to use. The instructions don't explain bevel cutting ever so well, but you should be able to work it out - practice with some scrap card first! They don't mention that your slip sheet (which sits beneath your card to be cut, presumably to protect the blade when it emerges from the bottom of your card) will probably get very cut-up in time, so you will probably have to cut yourself a duplicate from piece of mounting card at some point. The machine is quite hefty and you need a decent sized space to store it (mine's being kept in its box under the bed!). Happy with it, just what I needed.

Very good results.
The logan compact cutter makes cutting professional standard picture mats very easy. The price is a little high but worth it for the results it produces. Wish I had got it years ago instead of struggling with the Jakar cutter.

Far Better Than I Could Have Hoped
It’s incredibly easy to use with no difficulty at all, which, for me is quite surprising. I have a lot of upper body weakness and pain and I was worried that I might have over-stretched myself with this mat cutter. But I have to say it’s very easy both physically and skill levels required. Even before I had my difficulties I was never any good at anything requiring precision or any level of manual skill, but even I can use this. The blades cut into both mat board and foam board without any difficulty at all, it really is so simple even I can do it. I’m not sure what the person meant when he said you have to push it one way and then pull it the other, just go with the blade. I print A3+ and mount on A2 at my largest and this cutter is plenty big enough for my needs and to me this is a one off purchase that I can’t see me upgrading. Well worth every penny.

A simple piece of equipment that really does the job - pays for itself
We pondered a long time over this (particularly as the UK price is so much more than the US so we were tempted to wait til our next trip to get one there) - almost gave it 4* as a result but the item is so good that we stuck to 5*.But it really does the job well. We have had it for a few weeks and cut about 50 mounts ranging from 4"x6" to just about A2 and it has been great. We've only really messed up one mount - we found the trick is to slightly (about <0.5mm) overcut the bevel cuts. Once you have the hang of it a mount can be cut in a couple of minutes. They look perfect. The actual device seems ok - we are treating it with care as it looks easily damaged but so far so good.We bought (too many!) additional blades - we are finding that we have only used 2 so far (and really they could have been used longer). Another 50'ish mounts and it would have paid for itself and it is so convenient to be able to cut a mount as needed.(We are using Daler Rowney mount board).

A decent cutter for the price
Having used a professional mount cutter for many years I didn't expect much from a low priced cutter. However, I was surprised by the good quality of the build of it and tried a few cuts straight away. This model is a push style cutter and I was used to the pull style but I was soon accustomed to this change of direction. The instructions are clear and I was soon cutting perfect mounts with no overcuts. The squaring arm simply drops into a groove in the baseboard and is rather loose but a bit of fine packing solved that minor irritation. There are two cutting heads, one for cutting mounts and the other for cutting boards to size, both we'll made and which run on the straight edge ensuring straight cuts.On the whole I would recommend this Logan cutter for good mounts at a good price if you don't need to cut large numbers.it ces with a tutorial cd and a book on DIY framingPrices vary and you can save £20 if you search enough.

All cut up
First the choice of model; no point in wishing you'd bought it all at the same time, do it. Half way through a project and you haven't got the right cutter/ tool is not the time to find out! Now you have the kit, it really is easy to become an expert (once you've thrown away the first try - no one will know!) Solid construction, well machined joining parts, and quality throughout, you will not be disappointed with this item. Highly recommended.

Good Quality, for the price.
Cutting card mounts for A3 size mountings is now a doddle. It's good enough for amerture/occasionall use.Look for something more substantial if you are going to using it every day.
