Okay for a very specific use - but poor quality

Bought this to act as an extension to an existing irrigation system. I wanted something more flexible than the semi-rigid, polypropylene irrigation pipe - that I could bend more easily and then use to add some extra drippers and lines to.The pipe is dual layer - with what looks like a thin blue polythene inner and then a flexible butyl-type sleeve outer. It is very flexible - but prone to delaminating unless you treat it very carefully. The inner and the outer separate and then the whole pipe balloons and eventually bursts. If you want to use it instead of hose - just buy a decent quality hose. Plenty of alternatives on Amazon that cost the same or less.If you want to add extra lines and drippers into this pipe - then don't. Once a small hole is punched into this pipe to fit the dripper line - this immediately compromises the inner-outer structure and it balloons the pipe. The fitting into the pipe then gets very loose and blows out.So I experimented with a standard hose to see if I could put dripper lines into that. With some effort to make the little holes - this worked very well.So there really isn't a need to this pipe that I can see. It's flexible but fragile. It's now in the dustbin.

Versatile, fits different connectors, flexible, but PVC

Quick summary of positives and negatives, then full review..Positives:Very flexible, easy to lay, requires fewer connectors than stiffer pipesVersatile, takes most connectors and probably most sprinklers or drippersWould probably work well as normal hose pipe, due to flexibilityGood priceNegatives:PVC is generally more toxic than LDPEFull review:As other reviewers have pointed out, this is much like a standard garden hose in black. But it's more flexible than either the cheap, green (horrible) kind, or the more expensive, reinforced type, even if described as "flexible". It's flexible enough to lay in quite tight circles, so you probably don't need connectors to change direction when laying. While this is a benefit, compared to stiffer LDPE pipe, it also means it's very probably PVC, which could leach toxic chemicals into your garden and plants. I've read that PVC can cause issues for plants, as well humans eating them. I use PVC, though, as 4 mm irrigation tubing seems to all be PVC, as are garden hoses, so have still given 5 stars, although in my view, it would be desirable for manufacturer to address this issue, or at least declare what it's made from. It's pretty universal for connectors: you can use barbed connectors, although you'll likely need to soften it in hot water for easy insertion, Gardena's 13 mm easy-fit connectors, which can be inserted without using hot water (tested these), normal hose pipe connectors and obviously, Hozelock's easy drip components. You could probably make holes with a punch and insert any sprinklers or drippers intended to go directly into 13 mm pipe, but didn't test this. So it's versatile for irrigation purposes and would probably serve well as a normal garden hose - while not anti-kink, I've found flexible hoses better than "anti-kink" hoses, and this is very flexible and should be durable as intended for irrigation.. The price is also good for 20 m. Not a great fan of Hozelock based on previous experience, but would recommend, bearing in mind potential issues with PVC.

Essential buy. Don’t buy the cheaper copies

This is an essential part of your garden irrigation system. While the pipe is flexible I would strongly suggest for corners (for example a corner of a house wall) use the corner pieces. This pipe has a double skin. A stiffer external black coating on a rubberised internal sheath. This makes the insertion of the drip joints much easier and less prone to leaks. Do not be persuaded to buy cheaper versions as they will not form a seal and leak. These cheaper alternatives are stiffer and single skin. I would recommend all the Hoselock drip system other than their cloud based tap distributor. 2 failed in quick succession. Also don’t forget to drain and bring the controllers in doors during winter.

All Good!

Saw another review recommending this to use with the black/grey hose lock sprinklers and was a good recommendation

Shorter, more expensive and probably slightly bigger than the original

"Shrinkflation" has affected everything. No exception for this hose. I need to extend my waterline and bought this 20m pipe, thinking it's longer than what I bought last year. Foolish. It's 5m shorter and £7 more expensive. Is that an actual 100% increase of price? Plus, when I tried to connect it with the pressure reducer, it turned out slightly looser than with the original one. So I deem it either more stretchier or wider than what I had.
