I have zero experience with an indoor grill. Bought two inexpensive steaks from Target, grilled low and slow, with the result of a very tasty steak that was easy to cut and chew. The steak cooked thoroughly without charring but with a bit of a sear (you can sear it more if you turn up the heat at the end). I think they tasted better than grilling outdoors for some reason. It's simple to set this up, put water in the water pan, plug it in, and pop the steaks on the grill. Let the grill heat up first as instructed. Being able to grill steak, hamburger, chicken, sausage means I can cut down on buying out, so in the long term this is a money saver as well as an excellent grill. I see no negative issues with it other than, as an inexperienced grill-ist, I would have loved to have some recipe ideas along with the instructions. It was ABSOLUTELY smokeless while still catching the scent of grilled steak. Clean up was relatively easy; I let the grill soak in water for just a minute, then used a Scrub Mommy, and there was not a brown spot remaining.

the chefman electric smokeless indoor grill is great addition to my kitchen, especially for those days when i want to grill without having to go outside. the non-stick cooking surface is really convenient, making it easy to cook everything from veggies to burgers without a mess, and cleaning up afterward is simple too since the water tray is removable and dishwasher safe. i love that the adjustable temperature knob lets me switch from a gentle warm setting to a high sear, which means i can cook a wide variety of foods just the way i like. the only reason i m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that it takes s bit of time to heat up compared to some other grills. but once it's ready, it cooks evenly and delivers great results. overall, its a reliable and handy grill that works well for indoor BBQ craving.

This grill really doesn't smoke. I was skeptical when we ordered it, but we just finished using it for Korean BBQ and it worked perfectly even though we were grilling pork in a sweetened marinade that would have loved to catch fire. The secret is two fold: the water tray stops food that drops below the grill from drying out and eventually flaming up and the grate actually has channels in it for the heating element protecting the element from food dripping on it. The result? Deliciously grilled food without smoke. My only quibble, and this is definitely a minor issue, is that the grill's cord is permanently attached which means you are worrying about the cord when you are transporting it around the kitchen. We put a baking sheet with a lip under the grill while using it to prevent any spills while carrying it, which worked out really well. For Korean BBQ, the grill is plenty big for two people, would likely work for four or five. I can't comment on things like hamburgers, because we havent done that yet. Bottom line: if you like grilled food without having to go outside, this is magic.

This was easy to wash and set up for my first use. I did 4 burgers and 5 brats. They turned out great! It was shocking to see how much fat and grease accumulated in the drip pan. After draining, I wiped it down prior to putting in the dishwasher. I think this will be used weekly.

If you live in an apt or condo this is a great alternative to having an outdoor grille. It's easy to use and the size is small enough to store but big enough to cook for at least 4 people at a time. It's a bit of a challenge to clean, if I was the dish doer in the house it may not have received 5-stars.

Bought this six months ago. At first it was perfect for our meals. We especially liked the feature of adding water to the tray. And there was no smoke! However, after about four months of use averaging about three times a week, it didn’t heat up as well as it had. It took longer to cook a burger or a piece of steak. Also, the “char” marks don’t appear anymore. Final assessment is that we wish it could have lasted longer at peak performance!

I just received this item and used it as soon as I could wash it and preheat it. I marinated chicken breasts in anticipation of receiving the grill. It is so easy to use. It's a perfect size and price. I wanted something simple to operate and easy to clean. It grilled my chicken perfectly then I took the grill piece when it cooled and put it in the dishwasher. It cleaned up beautifully. It's not bulky so I found a spot in the kitchen to store it because I plan on using it a lot. I do all the cooking and grilling and I was tired of running outside to the big gas grill while trying to do the inside cooking as well. I can grill in the winter now, too. It was entirely smokeless because of the water tray under the grill. I wish I had bought one of these sooner. The cord is a decent length, not like the really short ones, so you can move it away from the wall a little. There are just two of us so there is more than enough room for our needs, and plenty of room for more.
