Quality pasta...Quick & Easy
There are very few people in this that have more kitchen equipment than I do. It is an obsession with me. This pasta maker is absolutely the best purchase of cooking equipment I have made in my life. In 10 minutes you basically have restaurant quality pasta using just flour, water, and sometimes egg. The pasta is extruded rather than rolled out & cut. On another note, if you peruse the web looking for how to videos or wanting to acquire specific dies for this machine besides the 8 included, you will quickly realize this model has a huge installed base globally and does not run short of support. No other machine comes close. This is also great for those nights when we wonder what we can have for a quick dinner....Put my premade angel hair that I made a few days ago in boiling water for two minutes , then add to a side skillet with sauce and it is all good. I highly recommend this user friendly machine to all skill levels. The best purchase I have ever made and I use it often

Better than the 1st gen
I have the 1st gen and used it often for a while until I broke the cover by accident. This new gen is better and easier to use. The cover seems more robust too.

I love it.
I caught this on sale and it us definitely worth what I paid. Even though it is plastic it is sturdy. I did by copper extruder pieces. The plastic ones don't make pasta as well as the copper ones. The speed the pasta comes out is perfect for me. It is not too dry or sticky. Fresh pasta cooks faster then store bought so adjust timing if cooking something to go with it. I love my pasta maker.

Not ready for use
I returned this because it was defective and I don't want a replacement. The mixing paddle is basically a screw with appendages. When the machine is mixing the dough, the paddle spins in one direction which keeps the dough in the mixing chamber. When the machine is extruding, the paddle rotates in the opposite direction which forces the dough through the shaping disc.I weighed all of the ingredients for two disastrous batches of pasta. For the first batch I used semolina flour and followed the recipe in the manual. After the mixing cycle, the machine stopped. I attempted to use the extrusion only button but it just returned the machine to the mixing cycle. After three minutes, it switched to the extrusion cycle. I wound up with a smooth (not crumbly) dough which I tried feeding through the shaping disc. Unfortunately, a thick crust had formed in the shaping disc and the dough would not extrude. I had to take the machine apart to clean it. Eventually, I was able to feed the dough into the paddle's screw manually. The dough was so damp that the spaghetti strands stuck together. I threw the batch out.For the second batch, I used ordinary white flour and followed the recipe in the instruction manual. Once again, the machine stopped and I could not get it to go directly to the extrusion cycle. Instead of winding up with a crumbly dough, I got a smooth dough. I tried feeding it into the screw manually and once again I had to take the machine apart because a crust had formed on the shaping disc. At this point, I threw the dough out and initiated a return of the machine.

Excellent pasta extruder
I made pasta professionally, and have just retired. I sold my professional extruded but still wanted to make pasta for myself and family. I did my homework and ordered the Philips 7000. I cleaned the machine out for the box and made penne as my first batch. It came out beautifully! I made just over 1/2 lb using the recipe for semolina with one egg. This machine is fantastic and fun!…really easy to clean-up as well. I am so pleased with my Philips pasta extruded and can’t wait to make a batch of spinach and beet pasta.

A Must!
I wasn't sure about spending this much on a pasta machine but I am so glad I did! A great purchase! A must for enjoying fresh pasta at home in the time it takes to boil water! It is well constructed and has a helpful app.
