I have been converted! Impressed and was really helpful and effective!
I had a smoothing brush for years and which I loved and could only use that particular brush when papering; however, I made the mistake of lending it out to a family member for it to never be seen again!I have been converted – being hard plastic I had wondered just how good it could be but I was actually excited to have discovered it! It is so much more than just a piece of plastic.I searched for a new brush similar which I could not find and this wallpaper tool was showing in the searches. I didn't realise anything like this existed but I liked the sound of it seeing that it was multipurpose and can be used as a straight edge too! Whereas I would normally have a separate ruler to use as a straight edge, this was not needed – even going down and around door frames it was so easy to cut straight edges.I hung two types of paper and both were ‘paste the wall’ type – one smooth and the other a fresco and although being careful – which was common sense to me that being hard plastic, it could damage the paper. I can honestly say that it didn’t cause any damage at all – in fact, I got through the job in quick time because not only was it great for smoothing the paper onto the wall, when it came to using as straight edge, it came into its own; particularly around light switches and sockets – not only a great straight edge but also perfect for tucking the paper edges behind the switch – so neat and tidy. The smoothing was great –had to be careful not to tear the paper and it did a great job BUT, when using it around the edges, it made life so much simpler. As long as you keep the tool in the same position as you go along and the knife the same position too…you will have consistent straight lines.(I actually purchased the knife that was recommended on this tool and it absolutely made a perfect team – the knife was far better than any other I had used in that it was super sharp and made amazingly straight cuts and the blades didn’t bend either which I have found on regular adjustable Stanley blades). When I purchased this tool, it was £4.95 but has since been reduced to currently £3.99 which makes it excellent value.Like me, if you have never used this kind of paper hanging tool before and was afraid to do so – bite the bullet and give it a go as it made papering so much more simple and quicker. The only tip is to not rush the process of smoothing as this will help prevent accidental tearing.I can’t recommend this tool enough!

A 21st century wallpapering tool!
I've always been a traditionalist wallpaperer; paste the paper on a pasting table, use a wallpaper brush to flatten out the paper, score the edges at top and bottom and then cut with scissors etc etc. It's been a while since my last wallpapering job so I looked around to see what was new (paste the wall paper etc) and if there were any new tools to make the job a bit easier. This looked a bit of a gimmick instead of the 'proper' way of using a wallpapering brush but I thought I'd give it a try.I'm never going back to a wallpapering brush! It is SO easy to get the paper to attach itself to the wall with this, and so much easier to get those pesky air bubbles out, as well as getting any excess paste to the edge that you might have in some areas.I was worried that pressing with it on the surface of embossed paper might squash it flat but this did not happen. It works ever so well on seams as well, getting both sides flat and even. I didn't even bring my seam roller down from the loft!I tried using it as a cutting guide too and it did work, but I prefer to use my 14" stainless steel drywall jointing knife instead (I've moved on from 'scoring and cutting' as well 🙂)So, it's definitely a step up from a wallpaper brush and seam roller, and worth every penny.

Works great on thick paper
I noticed this in a how to video. It’s very handy just needs to be the right paper (thick) and using a sharp blade. I found a craft scalpel best. Also don’t get the paper to wet with paste as this can also cause rips

So simple it just works great
Excellent... I was so sceptical about this, but it is so much better than a traditional brush to wipe out air bubbles and push paper into corners. Just sweep it across paper, don't press really hard. Great at getting defined lines to cut excess paper.

Great little gadget
When I first saw this I didn’t have very high hopes as it looks just like a bit of plastic but it’s actually an excellent little tool for wallpapering, smooths the wall paper nicely and gets right into edges and corners and also provides a good edge to trim along, reasonably priced as well

An ok tool
Felt this was ok but to be honest you can run your scissors along the wallpaper to do the same thing . What would be amazing is a two sided tool like this where one side actually cuts the excess paper away
