Does exactly what a roughneck tool shuld do. Nice wide base. Good weight, absolutely solid, feels indestructible. I used this to pack down a small crush and run base where a whacker plate machine would have been unsuitable. It did the job great. Was delivered next day, but in a huge box which felt unnecessary although I found a great use for the big box now. Handle is nice and grippy too. Overall great value for money, just don't hit yourself in the shin with it !I rate this 9.5/10 for value for money and robustness.

Perfect weight for the job and a really sturdy item.

Used to compact soil before laying gravel. Small area only. Did the job. Not too heavy so easy to use.

Does the job

If it's a smaller job that doesn't warrant the hire of a wacker plate, then this tool is a pretty good alternative. It won't give you the same compaction as a wacker but good enough for the smaller/lighter jobs. We used it for a small stoned area around a bench and it did the job nicely.
