Better than Gaggenau plumbed in machine!
We had a plumbed in steam oven for many years - a recent new kitchen install meant re-evaluating benefits of replacing it due to extortionate price of a new oven . The Magimix is so robust - has great large cooking capacity (plus water reservoir is so big it copes without needing a refill during cooking) -has such easy controls - and can be put away easily after use . I love it! Make poached eggs in it easily (with silicone pouches) and even cook big chunky cauli /broccoli heads I did try the Intellisteam but it’s too small, too many parts ,controls are tedious.sent it back. The Magimix wins! -even cf the plumbed oven which tended to drip on floor when taking the perforated tray out of oven. So much cheaper too!!

Wonderful!
I love this steamer and use it nearly every day. Wonderful moist chicken. Lovely vegetables. Just fill it, switch on the timer and leave it to work by itself. No hovering by the stove with pans boiling over! When done it switches off the steam but still keeps the food warm. Easy peasy way to cook lots of veg. I haven't steamed puddings or made yoghurt yet but they're on my list. Best piece of kitchen equipment ever.

Worth the higher p
I was hesitant to buy a steamer at such a high price, but I like to avoid plastics if I possibly can, and the majority of steamers are plastic. So I took the plunge. This steamer could not be any easier to use, set the temperature you need (it comes with a guide book) and then set the timer. All done! So far I have made really gorgeous yogurts in it and steamed veg for various meals...they definitely taste much better than boiling them, you get a tender but not soft texture (can’t bear soft mushy overcooked veg!) and retain lots more vitamins and minerals. So easy to wash as well. Love it...just waiting to see how it stands up to regular use now. One warning - the book it comes with has some ridiculous timings for your veg - for example it suggests steaming asparagus at 100 degrees for 30-45 minutes!!! Ignore this...just cook for as long as you would normally boil a vegetable for, and add a few extra minutes. If you cook asparagus for 30 minutes it will be horrible!! I steam it for 5-6 minutes max for thick stalks, and it is perfect.

Excellent quality
Purchased to replace an electric old steamer with plastic baskets that had split over many years of use. I could only find very cheap steamers with plastic baskets and plastic bases which I didn’t want. Our old one from M&S had stainless steel bases which were great but they don’t make it any more. Found this Magimix one last year and held off buying it because over £125 for an electric steamer is expensive. In the end I went for it and really pleased that I did. The steamer is excellent quality as you would expect from Magimix and has a 3 year warranty. It steams very quickly and the steam seems to be well contained. 4 different settings and huge capacity. The base of the top basket comes out which means there is plenty of space in there for large pudding basins. It is quite heavy compared to other steamers and had to rearrange the cupboards as it didn’t fit in the space from its predecessor! Highly recommended if you can swallow the cost.

Wrong cable for UK electric
This product came with a cable with a 2round pin plug which does not connect to our UK supply/ How can I get correct cable for UK without returning whole product. Useless if not able to connect

Worth it
I eat a lot of steamed veg, most days in fact and always use an electric steamer as it’s easier, quicker and creates less heat than having the hob on with a load of pans going. Always used the “cheap” plastic tub steamers before I decided to splurge on this and I gave tho say the difference is amazing.Other steamers with no temp function normally gave me over cooked veg with no bite and less flavour and I assume, less nutrients also but with this one you can control the temp and you get perfectly cooked veg, nothing is soggy even when cooking softer veg such as cauliflower together with veg that takes longer, like carrots or spuds. The stainless steel looks better, doesn’t get discoloured like the plastic baskets used to and it’s much easier to clean.Well impressed.

After wearing through 2 plastic steamers I found this one...
This steamer has been in almost constant use for 2 years now. We live in an area with very hard water, so the heating element in most steamers gets caked in limescale. Most steamers are a pain to de-scale, but this one is easy... Just a teaspoon of vinegar occasionally and voila! The steamer is large and does not pack into a small space. This is fine by me. I use it almost every day so it has a permanent spot on my kitchen counter. The stainless steel baskets are hard wearing and have outlasted any of the plastic baskets I have had in the past.So if you are fed up with cloudy and broken plastic steamer baskets and descaling your elements then this is the steamer for you! :-DUpdate 3 1/2 years later...Still working beautifully and used 4 days out of 7. None of the parts have broken and the timer is still working correctly! Still happy. :-D
