Great buy
I am very happy with this mag holder. First off, it's Safariland so you know its good quality but the best part is how much smaller it is that my previous mag holders, it really helps to free up space on my belt. The position of the magazines is great too, easy to grab and reload. Mags stay secure with enough tension that I am not worried about them falling out accidentally while at the same time easy enough to draw smoothly for reloads. Can't beat the price on amazon either, great value.

Takes up less belt space, but more awkward to use
Compared to the button-flap mag carriers we get issued by the department, removing the cover flap and turning the mags outward like this fixes two issues but creates one new one. It does take up less spare on the waistline when the mags are turned like this, and not having to fiddle with a cover flat saves time; alas, having the mags turned this way is SUPER awkward when it comes to actually drawing the mags, as you have to crank your wrist around in a very unnatural position, depending upon where you carry your spare mags on your belt. (For me, it's at about the 10:30 position as a right-handed shooter.) It takes up about 3/4" less space on your belt than a conventional magazine pouch, so if you are a tiny-waisted person where real estate on your duty belt is at an absolute premium, you might consider one of these ... but you will ABSOLUTELY need to spend some extra time training with it to get over the extra awkward magazine draw orientation, which is NOT anatomically correct to a human hand/wrist/arm arrangement if located anywhere forward of your hip bone.

Love this case! Wish I had purchased it a long time ago!
I bought this magazine case for my nylon belt, and it has the tactical look (which is what I was hoping for)! Prior to purchasing this case, I was unsure about the look as it was described as "STX Black." I knew that Safariland makes different color options (leather, plain, basket weave, etc), and I needed the tactical style for my nylon belt. I figured I'd purchase this one and hope that it was the tactical look, and luckily it was! Now I don't have to return it! It's about half the size of my old nylon case, so it saves more room on the belt, and actually feels lighter for some reason! Out of the box, the tension is great for my Glock 17 mags, however, I did tighten the tension screw just a hair to be on the safe side, as I'm usually on foot with my dog. The past 10 years I've always had my mags facing inward with the closed button flaps, so it does take a little practice getting used to pulling the mag out with it facing forward (thanks to muscle memory). It's nice because it saves time allowing me to get the mag out quicker for reloads. I'm very pleased with this case and would recommend it to anyone in law enforcement. Plus the price is excellent!
