Good news (...and good news)

The good news is that this is a high quality pump (Grundfos PN 59896775) that recirculates a home hot-water system perfectly. It replaces the Grundfos PN 59896127 pump perfectly (size, etc., the one I had previously and now discontinued) as advertised in the Grundfos technical data (middling-easy/hard to find that on-line). If, like me, you get part-way through the installation/replacement and find that, "Wow, the wiring is different" (as shown on page 8 of the installation manual that accompanies the pump) - no worries! Turns out that what appears to be a single-speed versus multi-speed wiring incompatibility is simply lousy instructions and illustrations in the installation manual. If you're replacing a 59896127 pump just take the two hot wires and connect them to the "L" and "N" connections, and connect the (most likely) green-colored ground wire to the terminal marked with the ground symbol. Too bad the Grundfos manual doesn't make it clear that you can connect a straight 115v/60c line input to the apparent multi-speed terminals on the new pump (as shown in their manual). I confirmed this via their (hard to find and relatively unpublished) customer service number (800-333-1366). Good luck googling any of this info (PITA - I had to pummel through it through several days of emails with the seller the hard way).Oh, and while you're at it, once you have it installed and have turned the water back on after making all connections, and thereafter starting the pump, be sure to turn the central nickel-plated screw in the central shaft area to a loosened position to purge any air from the pump while it's running. DON'T remove the screw, just loosen it while the pump is running and let any air (and a little bit of water which will dribble out) escape. Once you have only water slightly escaping from that area retighten the screw and everything's Jake! This is easier to google (found it on another seller's website). The pump may sound a little noisy at first, but after the ceramic bearings have seated in the first minute or so and after you've purged the air in the pump (described in preceding paragraph) the noise should go away and it should be relatively silent. Very nice.

Seeming Exact Replacement for 59896127

Yes, this seems to be an exact replacement and is working fine in my house without changing anything but the rubber washers. Just shut off the water using a hex wrench on the tiny valves built into both ends of the fittings for the pump, take the old one out, replace the washers, chunk the new one in there and tighten the fittings. You'll need to wire the new pump. I just used my old wiring, the green wire to ground, the two white wires to L and N. (In my case, since I had two white wires, I had to trace them back to the plug to learn which was connected to the narrow [=L] prong of the plug and which to the wide [=N] prong.)Note: my pump was NOT labelled 59896775. It has another model number written on it, despite it being described as part 59896775 by Amazon. I called Grundfos and was told the differing number was due to it coming with the fittings as a kit. I find that hard to believe, but I can confirm the pump is working properly.Oh, and finally, bleed air from the pump by using a very wide flathead screwdriver to loosen (not remove) the metal cap in the center of the front of the pump. Water will leak out. When it does and no bubbles are coming out, you should be good to go.

Perfect Replacement for older original model.

Arrived quickly. Product was exactly as described and actually came with new unions and washers. Very easy install and easy instructions. Was a replacement part # for the same model and size which lasted 20 years. This one is even quieter.

Noisier than the original, or other models

I purchased this unit from this seller, because they had the best deal. It was super easy to install, everything but the power cable was included. The only issue is, even though it is a drop in replacement, the unit itself if pretty noisy. It is not in your face noisy, but that running noise travels down the pipes and when it is quiet and not much us going on, you can clearly hear the pump running, even 50 ft away from the pump. The seller was very nice, communicated well, and accepted my return without issue. Seller is great, the product however is not. A neighbor whose house was just built as a Grundfos pump on her home, probably a slightly different model. Her unit was as or more quiet than my 20 year old unit that failed. I was going to buy it again from another seller, hoping it was a one off problem, but now that I am reading the other reviews, I see it is a noisy pump. Back to the drawing board.

Come with both halves of the unions

I ordered this in September 2019. The product as pictured shows only half of the 1.25 inch unions and the rubber seals that go inside the unions. I just wanted to report that the pump did come with other half of the unions. So with the unions installed on the pump, you are left with 3/4 inch female NPT connections in brass. Contrary to the description, fittings to adapt to 1/2 inch or Sweat were not included. However adapters to do that can be found at any plumbing store or Home Depot. The Unions themselves are not something you would find at Home Depot. I don't know if plumbing stores carry them. Thankfully, both halves of the unions came with the pump.So far I am very happy with the pump. I'm using it to circulate hot water from my hot water heater through a radiator to heat a room and back to the hot water heater. I originally built the system with a cheaper pump from a different manufacture however that pump failed after only a few years. With the original system, the pump was not run six months out of the year. That probably allowed mineral deposits to clog the pump. So with this pump, I plan to run it on a timer a few minutes every day even in the warm weather. This pump is a "cartridge" style pump. The windings are fixed and apply magnetic fields through a thin stainless steel housing which serves as the water tight seal to the permanent magnet rotor assembly. The advantages of this design is that there isn't a shaft protruding through a water tight seal which would eventually wear out. Also water is in contact with everything that moves so it both lubricates and cools the moving parts.
