Stuff works, foolproof & easy
I use this primarily to touch up sides that grey sooner than when I go back for a haircut and color. Most of my grey is at my sides and even professional colors don't seem to get it completely all the time (color resistant). So this is a nice product to touch up and refresh in between my every 5 week appointments. I find it blends in.Beyond being careful to wipe off any on your skin or being careful to not get on things that might stain, you can't mess this up. I've forgotten about it and left on my hair for a couple hours once. It was crunchy dry. I rinsed it off, hair was a little soft, but it was good to go. It really is "auto stop".The biggest criticism I have with these men's products is that they are nowhere near as color specific as women get. I have ash brown hair with no red color in it, so some of these products are the right darkness but don't blend in well because they make them more generic brown. I've experimented a shade lighter and a shade darker to compare results. The great thing about the comb-through product is that you don't have to commit. You can color a small area discretely and see how you like it before you do a full application. The stuff lasts at least a few weeks before it starts fading. Different people's hair has different ability to take color, sometimes I need two applications to get it where I want. Your mileage may vary. It's best to use after you've washed your hair, with no conditioner. Dry it, though it can still be a little damp, and then apply. The next best time to apply, and most convenient, would be 10-15 min before you shower/wash your hair. To wash out the dye, I do a double wash with color safe shampoo and some conditioner, which supposedly helps seal it.HOW TO GET MULTIPLE APPLICATIONS FROM A TUBEYou do not need to waste a whole tube on one go as the packaging indicates. The important thing to know is the chemicals in the dye react with O2 in the air in order to set the color. So IMMEDIATELY after you finish your application, squeeze the tube a little sideways (like you do with toothpaste) to try to draw the dye in the comb back into the tube to save some of that (don't obsess, you'll lose some), then unscrew the comb, and then gently squeeze the tube until the dye comes to the very top and put the lid on snuggly. Generally you want to get the air out of the tube. Air in the tube will oxidize and "use up" the dye. You'll know if you did this right because the next time you use it, the dye should be light brown in color (like it is when the tube is new). If it's dark brown/black, it's been oxidized and won't do anything (not harmful to your hair but it will fail to color it). Sometimes the dye at the very top of the tube gets oxidized, so squeeze a little out before you give up on a tube. Doing this, I get 5-7 applications from a tube, doing my sides. If I was doing my whole head, I'd probably get 2-3 applications out of each tube.Make sure to clean the comb immediately after this. Rinse the comb under warm/hot water, from both ends, to get ALL of the dye out. Don't stop until water flows freely through all comb holes and no colored water comes through. The holes are small, if you don't do this, it will dry and clog and your next application with not go well if at all. The dye cleans up from skin and most places well with rag or paper towels, especially if you get to it fresh.

Nice option for covering a couple greys
I use this to cover up a few greys that are coming in and as a women who has brown hair, this is the closest match I've been able to find. Other box dyes turn my hair too redish and it just doesn't look right. This option gives me coverage and without a lot of damage. Sadly, it just doesn't last as long as I'd like but I plan on using it until I have so much grey that it just won't work any longer.

It’s ok but not a lasting color
It says it lasts up to eight weeks until original color grows back, but that’s not true. The color fades within a few days.

Easy application
I really like the comb application. I wear my hair very short on the sides so didn’t want a dark tint there vs the longer top. This application allowed me to do the top part first and afterward do the sides for a shorter duration. Looks very natural and you can’t beat the price!

Not So Good’
Where do I begin? Though it’s a novel idea to squeeze color out through a comb, the experience is a lot worse in reality. Here are the Cons.1. Even though they say it has enough in the tube for 2 applications, there’s barely enough for 1 unless you have extremely short hair or balding.2. As you can see the color on the box does not render the same color it gives your own hair so be very careful and select down in color. (See photo)They say the color shuts off automatically after 10 minutes so it’s not a case of user error by leaving it on for to long.3. It’s extremely drying to your hair! The reason for this is because it doesn’t work on the same principles as conventional hair color but instead deposits pigment to the outer hair shaft. Pigment laying on top of the hair shaft gives your hair a gritty feeling of dryness. I had to use a lot of conditioner just to make it feel like real hair again.4. While the applicator is a novel idea, it is much more messy than using a traditional applicator bottle. I think the comb applicator would be better for someone who has a beard or facial hair.So for the Pros……1. It is relatively inexpensive but around the same price as Clairol brand hair color.2. It is small enough to travel with… for touch-ups.3. It DOES render color within 10 minutes so if you need to color your hair quick and shave off an additional 10 minutes from the processing time, then this is for you. Most traditional hair color’s processing time is between 20 and 30 minutes. My conclusion…….This product is better suited to color facial hair or eyebrows because it processes very quick! Other than that, I was very disappointed in the whole experience. I would advise that you do yourself a favor and mix up equal parts of water and some bleach for the shower, in a spray bottle so you can spray down your shower after.Good luck and happy hair coloring!!
