Good shave
Not too loud, shaves very closely and with minimal irritation. The build quality doesn't feel great; for instance, the S3 seems a lot more solid to me. Also, you have to change the head to get a trimmer (unlike with the S3).I suppose we'll see about the quality, but, for now, I don't think the rather plasticky build is worth discounting a star. I will update this if it doesn't last.

Excellent electric shaver for the price.
Great shaved. I’ve been using a Norelco for electric and Schick for shaving but would get nicks or ingrown hairs above lip. This shaver is easy and smooth. I add pre-shave lotion and it’s magic. I looked at several reviews and was not spending $180-300 on a series 8 or 9, the 7 is excellent. Great product for a great price of under $100

Expensive but highly rated
Expensive. Shave is good, but safety razor is better. However, it is much more convenient than a safety razor. The accompanying directions pamphlet is a joke. I've owned a number of Braun razors; their customer service is terrible.

Not quite as good as Panasonic 5 blade razors
I use this as both a face and head shaver, so keep that in mind. I use Cremo shave cream with any shaver I use. Also, I've used quite a few models of shavers, and IMO Panasonic 5 blade units are a good metric to compare to.Likes: The head the pretty compact, which is good for both face and head shaving. For head shaving, compact heads are great for working near your ears and on the back of your neck. For face shaving, your nose. Battery life is as good as all of the Panasonic units I've used (3,4 and 5 blade models) and charging time is fast. Its pretty easy to clean. The blades, when new, are great for face shaving, IMO better than the Panasonic. When new. Also, I've found that with my Panasonic, I can occasionally get an ingrown hair or two on my cheeks, that never happened with the Braun. Also, the shaver can survive a drop, it accidentally fallen off my shower shelf twice and survived both drops.Dislikes: The blades aren't quite as good as Panasonics blades for head shaving. They wear out extremely fast. Panasonic blades can last almost a year, and that's with both face and head shaving. The foil on the first set of Braun blades wore out in 4 months. The foil on the second set wore out in 3, then I bought another Panasonic shaver. The compact head does mean that the blades have to do more work, so the shaver can bog down at times, where the Panasonic would power through. If you're *only* using it for face shaving, I'd recommend it. However, if there isnt a great price difference between it and a Panasonic 5 blade model, or if you also need it for a head shaver, I'd go for the Panasonic.

Close cut, easy to clean.
I have only used it twice, but it does shave closer and more evenly than my old series 7. Easy to clean and it is a little quieter than my old one.

doesn't come with maintenance oil
doesn't come with maintenance oil a basic componenteven cheap clippers come with a small bottle of oilthe instructions aren't just bad they are insufficientthey don't contain more that just a few sentences tell you nothing aboutwhat they pictures mean i can make a guess what they mean but like where it shows soap it doesn't explain what kind of soap or if it is soap perhaps something else in bottle, they don't elaborate on what kind of soap would be best to use or avoid, don't say if soap everytime would be best. i assume that soap would strip the oil off and require frequent oilingin the pictures on the shaver it shows droplets 💦 i assume that means that it tells you when to oil it but they don't tell you in days how often the oil schedule may be, and it would also help to know perhaps the software doesn't work right or the light doesn't trigger, perhaps i am supposed to oil it after every use, but i don't know because they don't address itin the questions one user was asking why the shaver replacement light is on. first the instructions don't say anything about that. second someone from braun replys and say press the power button for 8 seconds to reset the light but the instructions don't say anything about that, i mean when you bought the replacement head they just don't tell you anything about reseting the light, i just don't get the logic of selling a premium product and then giving you a picture book and extremely limited low information about it
