smART Pixelator

This toy exceeded all of my kids expectations - they simply cannot get enough of it! I love that they are able to explore their creativity with limitless possibilities especially using the free app and it's photo-to-pixelate feature. As a parent, I am always looking for toys that can entertain and at the same time educate - this is not easy to find and we found it in the smART Pixelator. This is our second toy from Flycatcher Toys and we are also big fans of the smART sketcher which teaches our kids how to draw. If you are looking for an innovative toy that is different from all the "clutter" out there today, this toy is highly recommended! It is the perfect holiday gift for any creative kid out there! LOVE IT!

Super cool toy. Similar to a light bright but way more capabilities. Good value for the money. The only thing my 7 year old had a hard time worth the tiny pieces. This may just be him. He got frustrated trying to put them in. Maybe it should be marketed for slightly older kids? The toy itself is awesome I had fun with it and enjoy it’s different capabilities. This could just be a my son problem. But he is usually really good at building and such. I would definitely recommend this product though. Makes a great gender neutral gift.

My daughter saved all her birthday money to get this toy. You can do just pegs and use it like a lite brite or do perler beads and make real items. It was so easy to figure out, great app. You can use it without app too. She’s delighted with it. You would definitely want to buy a peg/bead kit or big tub of perler beads. They don’t give you enough in here to really have fun. We bought the sorting kit with it that has a mix of beads, pegs and sequins. So far, so good.

Doesn’t work with actual perler beads so that’s kinda lame- you have to buy their brand. It comes with enough for like 2-3 projects as long as you don’t care about using the same color through the whole project. Whenever we tried to upload a picture onto it it came out super dark with tons of black so I asked the company what was wrong. Their answer was that it has to compile all the colors into 16bit so try a different picture. We’ve tried like probably 30 and they all come out looking like a dark pop art picture. Its not a complete waste of money because there’s a lot of projects pre-built into the pixelator, but the make your own picture feature definitely doesn’t work. I would not recommend it for anything but the built in projects and it’s not great value for your money, but my child likes it at least

We LOVE perler bead projects so this was at the top of my son’s Christmas list! The only reason this isn’t getting four stars is that I was VERY disappointed to find out the size of these beads is smaller than your average perler bead! So now we have to buy the Smart Pixelator beads......ugh. I feel a bit cheated.

This is like the bead projects I made as a kid, but way cooler. The kids can select the picture they want to do and put the beads on (kinda like a light-bright). After you are done you take the frame out to iron the beads. There is an SD card that comes with it (and a case, which is AWESOME) that has many projects to do. My son is particularly excited about the 3d items you can make with the system. There are a wide range of activities to suit different abilities and interests.

I bought this as a Christmas present for my 8 year old niece. She loves crafting and this one was no exception! Her favorite part about this one is the ability to take her own picture and turn it into a template! She is able to do everything by herself except for the last step, which requires molding the beads together with an iron (or some form of high heat). Otherwise, this is a great kid friendly project for rainy days!

Not enough beads! My daughter is six and when she does this type of activity she likes to make several designs. You run out of fusable beads so fast and it is impossible to get more quickly. She also likes particular colors, like pink.We have already ordered the organizer and we just ordered the 4000 piece set of fusable beads. And now we have all sorts of colors we do not need and not enough pink! Grrrr. Plus the package makes it look like you are getting more than you do and the extra beads cost 3× more than what I can buy peeler beads at joann. This is a parents worst nightmare
