Smirk & DaggerTower of Madness, Game

I expected more from Smirk and Dagger games. I have played this game so many times with friends that I wanted to gift a copy to my husband. I was shipped a clearly used game. And the instructions on how to play the game weren't even in the box?!The box it was shipped in was perfectly intact. The actual game box however, was damaged on the outside and the interior was worse. The internal plastic structure that holds all the pieces in place was cracked in multiple spots not to mention dirty. The bags the game pieces came in were dirty as well.Unfortunately I have to return which is a shame.

The game is quite simple enough to learn and lighthearted enough to keep my kids involved. It mixes the themes of the Lovecraft story of Cthulhu with the classic game of kerplunk and dice-rolling. Took about 45 minutes to play & learn for the first time. Its much easier to understand watching a video online.As fun as the game is by itself, the build quality of the tower itself is fair. The tower is made of cardboard and black paper backing. When initially setting up the game, I was folding and bending the edges with no initial seam. The glue did not hold up well in storage it seems as the black paper began to peel and split away from the cardboard. In the end it did serve its purpose, but I may have to repair it soon should the paper peel away any more. All other items in the box are of good quality, cards, dice, marbles, tower-base and tentacles all should last quite a bit longer than the tower.

This game is absolute madness! Very entertaining for playing with my group of friends. You never know how the game is going to go, it be a completely calm game or complete insanity! Would definitely buy again!

Altogether great, short, sweet game.

The quality of the tower component could be better. The magnets are not strong so the tower keeps coming undone when placed into the tray to stand up. The roof is difficult to install in place. Tips and corner pieces were immediately starting to have slight peeling out of the box with minor handling. No complaints otherwise.
