Q: Do these batteries work with the new A7r IV?

Yes. However the A7R IV may give the same warning as my A7Riii which warns me that continued operation cannot be guaranteed. For as long as you accept the warning the camera performs flawlessly. I've used BM for the past 5 years in all my Sony cameras and absolutely swear by them.

Q: Will these cause the warning message on an a7r iv?

They do on the A7Riii - so probably. But you will need to test. I accept the warnings on my A7Riiis and they work perfectly.

Q: I see that as of 3 years ago these batteries give an error message with current Sony firmware. Is that still the case?

Warning rather than error message but Yes. You have to accept the warning or the camera will shut down.
