Enjoyable, but not as good as Wingspan
We have dubbed this game Dog-Span as it has clearly been inspired by the popular game Wingspan. Overall we did enjoy this game, and there are quite a few differences in play that does make this a very separate game from Wingspan.Pros- Nice artwork (although not everyone was keen).- Quality pieces.- You can have different strategies to win.- Lots of different dogs illustrated.- You can spend your victory points. I quite liked this mechanism as you had to weigh up risk/reward. Especially towards the end of the game.- I liked that the first out of the dog park gets a choice of reward, whereas the slowest gets more resources.Cons- Despite lots of dog illustrations there were not many variations in the deck (i.e. what the cards do). Unlike Wingspan the deck felt a bit stilted and boring. Hopefully expansions will bring more variety.- Some of the rules in the rulebook were not very clear.- You need quite a bit of table space to hold all the dogs you've bought.Overall this game was enjoyable, but I didn't enjoy playing it as much as Wingspan. I am hoping it improves with repeated playing, or maybe they can sort out the boring deck in the expansions.

Great fun for all dog lovers
Dog Park is a fun strategy board game by Birdwood Games that is perfect for family night. As a dog lover myself, I was so excited to give it a try. The game is designed for 1-4 players ages 10+, so my whole family could join in on the fun. We all really enjoyed it! The game requires creativity, strategy, and luck, so it's a great way to get the family together and use their problem-solving skills. We all had a great time playing this game. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a fun, family game night!

Playful pondering, puppy style
Bringing both strategy and fun, this dog-themed board game has been a hit during game nights. Its appeal cuts across ages, making it a family favorite. The educational aspect regarding different dog breeds adds an interesting twist, making it not just enjoyable but informative too.

Great as a full 4 player experience
Dog Park is the first game by Birdwood games. It's an impressive first entry into the board game sphere, but falls short of truly wowing. If I could give Dog Park 10 stars just for theming, I would. The artwork, the sheer variety of dog breeds, the quality of the components right down to the bone shaped holders for the pieces is utterly delightful. It is such a joy to receive a board game and to get excited just to see it and to want to show it off to others. I can not fault the game in this. When it comes to setting up and playing, the rules feel quite dry, matter of fact and a bit overwhelming. It's not a heavy game for difficulty, but the rules and turn order took some getting my head around. I needed those pieces in front of me to mentally play to understand the instructions. Once you get going, the game is pretty simple, but as you only play 4 rounds, the flow is quickly cut short and you're at end game.As a two player game you play with an additional "A.I" dog walker. This helps to hinder player progression and balance the game, but the reality is is that this game plays significantly better with a human group of 3, or preferably 4, players.Bidding for the dogs is far too easy in a two player game. Overall regardless of player counts, I will say that there doesn't seem to be a large incentive to bid high on dogs and with only 4 rounds. You can't accurately predict which dogs you may get for it to make much difference, so you end up just choosing who you can walk based on your pieces (bone, ball, toy, stick) the vast majority of the time.Don't get me wrong with this review, I actually like the game. However in spite of the wonderful pieces and presentation, I feel the game falls short of it's ambition. If you're a huge dog lover, or are looking for a gift for a dog lover in your life, I can recommend. If the theming doesn't impress you, then I'd say look elsewhere.3.5/5

This is delightful!
This is so beautifully presented; I love board games so I always jump at the change to give a new one a go. Everything about this is lovely; the game pieces, the artwork on the box... it's all very high quality, and definitely feels like a premium game! I especially thought the bone-shaped trays were a delightful touch.Me any my friends had a few goes during one of our regular board game nights, and we all found it pretty easy to get to grips with. The box says it's a 40-80 minute game, and it's right, our first go did take over an hour but after a few attempts with it, we were able to quite confidently finish it in about 45 minutes or so.I had an absolute blast with this - if you're looking for a new board game to give a go, I'd absolutely recommend this one for the price!

Unique board game
This is certainly a unique board game, it looks lovely and is a great addition to our collection. My 11 year old son didn’t really stick it out but us adults enjoyed it, I love the knowledge on different dog breeds this game gives you. Some of the pieces are quite small but more than manageable as the game isn’t intended for little ones. I’ve given 4/5 mainly for the price as I do t think I would normally pay that much for a board game but if the price isn’t an issue for you then I would recommend giving this lovely game a go

Great production!!
This game has an amazing production. The different kinds of tokens, the art for the dogs, the trays... Everything in the box is worth every penny. Haven't seen this production quality since Wingspan.Being a seasoned gamer, the game for itself is also very good, not too simple to be boring and not too complex to get lost in your analysis. It is a "Familiar game" in every sense. However, if you expect a wingspan with dogs... this isn't the product for you, this game is too simple to be considered wingspan, there are a lot of "dog powers" that repeat among the cards.

Really Cute, Fun and Light Game! (Minor defect)
Super fun game!! I thought it was going to be more like Wingspan but it's quite a bit lighter. Still so cute and very enjoyable. It even has a few game mechanics that I haven't ever seen in other board games. If you're new to complex board games, this will be plenty complicated for you. (And no, Catan isn't a complex board game.) If you're a heavy board gamer, this game will feel like a breath of fresh air between more competitive campaigns - so relaxing, it's even a little therapeutic. Dog lovers will especially love this game!Only giving 4 stars because mine arrived with a large puncture in the lid of the otherwise *beautiful* box. The box it shipped in was fine, so it had to have happened before it was even packaged. I couldn't bear to return the entire game over a cosmetic blemish. But we're board game people, have shown this game to many of our friends and family, AND we have two Australian Shepherds (Toby & Lulu), so it stings every time I see that big hole in our box.
