Excellent
I used this ice melt last year, and just received more for this year.- It works really well, it keeps the paths clear for longer than I expected, and meets the promises on the tub (24hours active).- I am particularly appreciative, that it does not harm the plants, as I am using it close to a big hedge.- Also its said to not irritate animals paws - since I don't have cats or dogs, I can't comment on that.- The delivery was swift and the kind gentleman even put it next to my shed.- I like that it does not make these unpleasant salt-crushing sounds, on the wooden-floor in the entrance hall. By the way it did not damage the wooden floor at all, I could not detect any effect of the melt on floor.Last year I used it by distributing by hand, which I think, might mean I might have used a bit more than I needed to, and not as evenly. I shall try this year to use it with the Gardena spreader for lawn feed (like a small brush-size - ca. 35 cm wide - trolly-type thing) - I might write about that some other time, but maybe others have suggestions for how to best distribute it evenly.- I also like to praise this company for not putting up its prizes in this current weather. I do not support - i.e. I won't buy - from companies, who put up prizes for hard to get, or high in demand goods - e.g. several tyre dealers and/or manufactures have put up their prices, ditto for snow-shovels (e.g. on amazon.de the company Opult did demand within the span of 1 week double the amount for the Gardena snow-shovel (which is not yet available in the UK as far as I know)).Overall: great experience with the product, the company, and amazon!PS I bought last year the ice melt in a bag, and did not need to use it all. Whilst I took care to tie it up well, to use this year, rainwater must have entred, as it had clumped and needed to be crushed to be applied, and its effectiveness seemed reduced. So if you don't think you use up all of your bags content, I suggest, that put it in a tub or buy it in a tub in the first place.

Effective but not cheap
Used to get this at Costco and Garden centres but now difficult to find.Feel they are cashing in on scarcity with this price.it still is better than salt and a shovel though

excellent ice melt
This is an excellent product. Ice Melt works effortlessly and keeps treated areas free from ice build up. Also it does not 'mark' brick/concrete pavers or leave any nasty salt residues. Recommended.

This stuff is great!
Having fallen last year on black ice on my steep drive, I needed something better than salt to help keep my aging bones safe. Ice Melt is just the ticket. Its main benefit over salt is that it is persistant - it will stay put over several days even on a slope. It will even stay active in rain, if not too heavy. If snow falls on top of it, the depth is greatly reduced. It isn't cheap but it is a lot cheaper than broken bones...

Ineffective, Poor Quality Control
I write as someone who has been compelled to use this product for about five years by 'the management'. I think it is pretty useless, and so does every colleague that I have spoken to about it (that is those who actually use it)."Magic Ice Melt" is effective in treating a moderate frost down to about -5 degrees. I wouldn't trust it to last more than 24 hours. If you read the small print, it actually says that it is not meant to be used to treat snow (other than the lightest of coverings), contrary to the headline. Apart from being relatively ineffective and expensive, the manufacturers seem to have a problem with quality control. One bag will contain quite large granules (I have had customers think that a newly applied product from such a bag was shattered glass) while the next bag will be fine and powdery to the extent that half of it will blow away before reaching the intended area. We had a batch of bags which were no more than half full. If you do not use a bag completely, make sure you seal it as air tight as possible, or else it will react with moisture in the air to form a useless viscous gunge. I have had bags delivered with tiny holes in them which has likewise turned the contents to a useless putty.Especially if you have a large area to cover, take some time to consult an independent specialist about what is best for your needs. There are lots of different products out there. Traditional rock salt is effective and relatively cheap and is what we used to use. The only thing that "Magic Ice melt" seems to have going for it is that it is apparently less corrosive.
