Fantastic
It's difficult to imagine any other saw designed for this use could work much better. The teeth are sharp and the chain is two-sided, so it is easy to put in position. When oiled heavily and pulled steadily, the chain cuts very well. The only down side is that the holes in the end of the chain are too small to attach a carabiner to allow for easy assembly. I used a regular hoist chain link to attach the ropes. An additional rope to keep pressure downward on the limb being cut so there is no binding is a must. And when sawing it's absolutely necessary to pull with your lead arm only, while keeping total slack on the drag arm...then reverse. It works great, but remember it's not a power saw, and that using it is still a tough job. But it beats calling someone else if limited trimming of small branches is all you need. This is a keeper.

Tree chain saw
It worked great. We used it to cut down a few dead branches and it worked no problem. Only issue is the chain would kink once in a while and it was a pain to undo it, but for how much it needs to be used it's not a problem.

Works well
I was surprised how well it cuts. Smaller diameter limbs are pretty easy to cut by 1 person. For thicker limbs, it works best with 2 people so that the angle of the ropes/chain are wider than 1 person can do. This seems to reduce the limb from binding as the cut gets close to through. Like others have said, the included rope and hooks are wimpy and pretty short, but that's easy enough to overcome with a trip to the local hardware store.

A very effective tool
Unlike most, this chain has cutting teeth on the upper and lower edges of the chin. This gives you twice the time between sharpenings. A friend and I cut through a fallen 18" diameter oak tree in 8-1/2 minutes of actual cutting (not counting rest periods).

Well……good and bad
So I had some limbs about 15’ up. The ropes included are too short so I used some I had. The pouch is useless. I had to make a rig from a telescoping pole and tied a heavy lathe face plate onto the rope and ran it through a hole in the pole. After I extended the pole I put the weight over the limb. Let the weight drop down and tied the chain to the other end of the rope then attached the other rope to the other end of the chain. The chain is sharp, almost too sharp in my opinion because it digs into the limb and jams up. It’s a pain to get it loose. All in all it works decent, just wish it wouldn’t hang up.Update: Got one limb cut but kept getting stuck. Attempts at others limbs were unsuccessful. Kept getting stuck. Would not recommend it for high limbs., as it is aggravating and dangerous. May be ok for cutting limbs on the ground. That way if it gets stuck, you can free it easier.

High quality chain, short rope
Some good, some bad. No instructions provided. The chain has bi-direction teeth on both sides of the blade. I have used this for about 30 hardwood limbs. The chain is high carbon steel, durable and still sharp. I recommend the longest chain (53"), well worth paying the extra couple bucks. The rope provided is very short and not very durable. I purchased 2x 50' of 1/4" diamond braid utility rope (works much better). You need a rope that have very little stretch (don't use paracord). The 1/4" rope is larger diameter than the rope provided, which is less likely to break if you get the chain bound in the cut. Use the "S" hooks provided in the kit to attach the rope to the chain (pliers to squeeze the "S" hooks to keep it from coming apart). The plastic handles provided with the saw kit work pretty good (even with the larger 1/4" rope). The throw bag provided is useless (unless your limb is about 10' off the ground). I use a 35# bow & arrow, with 3 lug-nuts taped to the arrow for weight, and string tied to the arrow. Once I get the arrow over the limb (sometimes takes several shots), tie the string to the 1/4" rope and pull the rope over the limb. Have your buddy stand some distance away from the tree, so the rope is about 45-degree angle from vertical (If you stand too close the chain will bind in the cut). Getting a rhythm takes some practice, but the chain cuts pretty quickly. When the limb starts to fall... RUN. You can't predict how the limb will swing on the way down or if it will bounce. When this one wears-out, I will buy another.

Worked great for 3 limbs then borke! Very cheap!
This arrived Jan 4th and first used it Feb 4th because of the weather. Lots of single digit temps! BRRRR! On the third limb the weight bag broke. Wife said it was single stitched, no zig zag and only one pass. So I taped it up for now. On the fourth limb the chain broke and the return period is over! The ropes are very short and you need extra to use if your branches are more than 10-12 feet in the air, which mine were. When it was working it seemed to do fine. The rope saw is a great idea but this one is very cheaply made! Maybe if your only doing one or two branches it might work for you. Another cheep chinese product!

It is worth getting but you will need to change some things.
The rope it comes with is junk and short so you will need to upgrade it. I recommend buying the largest chain since you will need it for when the chain gets stuck at certain angles and positions you will be able to get it working still. Buying 2 sets of chains is helpful in the event you get one stuck or pinched. The counter weight bag they give you is also junk (threads fell apart). I ended up just taping mine up with electrical tape to keep the counter weights inside. I recommend buying an extra rope with a small strong carabiner on it for throwing the counter weight and pulling down the section you are cutting. Overall everything in this kit is junk except for the chain but the cutting chain is awesome and worth upgrading everything else.
