These swabs identified lead based paint on several mugs and cups quickly and easily. it also worked well to test our water. Try this for learning as we did - bought 3 brands of bottled water and tested them as well as our own. The worst? One of the brands, NOT our house water. Heck of a learning experience. We need to be careful, these easy to use swabs work great to test whatever is needed in your home.

These were critical while we were remodeling an old house we own that has layers of lead paint underneath new paint. It was great to be able to test any broken or flaking areas for lead so we knew how to safely proceed with repairs. The 30 pack is a great value, and the swabs are easy to read with the color scale on the bottle. Quick results.

Easily used this to see if this WW2 Army trunk had lead paint or not. The tip very quickly became red, indicating a positive for lead paint.The tests come back negative on glass that is leaded crystal, or on items that have lead paint under a clear glaze; like antique dishes or glass.The tests are wonderful for literal paint, but not for items that contain lead and do not have paint.

Worked very well for checking for lead. Clear indication where lead is on my wall exterior. I tested with some lead solder I had, these are pretty reliable so far. Good value for the number of tests I can run.

Bought this lead test kit to check a few old items around the house. The instructions were pretty simple and using the swabs was easy. Just dip in water and rub on the surface, results show up fast, which is great. The pack comes with plenty of swabs so you can test multiple things without worrying about running out too soon. The only downside is that the color change can be a little tricky to interpret. Sometimes it’s clear but other times it’s kinda faint making you second-guess the results. Also, wish the swabs were a bit more sensitive, tested a couple items I was pretty sure had lead, but they didn’t react much. Overall, it’s a decent kit for quick home testing. If you need something super precise you might want a lab test but for basic checking this does the job.

We so appreciate the peace of mind this test kit gives us. Although it’s important to be aware that home test kits can be inaccurate, we have found that this kit rarely shows up positive for the things we test. It only ever showed up positive for some protein powders that we tested. We found the results easy to read, and found the price to be affordable.

They worked great it says on the packaging that they turned mustard yellow that's when they're ready to use but they don't turn mustard yellow they turn more orange than yellow and then the lead comes up almost a purple on them so don't wait for him to turn the mustard yellow you'll be there all day

Used on metal food items from TEMU. Both showed lead content.
