Excellent product and idea especially for flies and dog hair in the height of summer that hasn't sunk yet to the bottom..I bought this for that reason and of course did not work with the standard 330 gph pump you get with most pool kit's..So you will need to upgrade your pump..Myself I bought a 1500gph pump for a 10 feet pool..As the skimmer needs bottom pressure to suck on the debris basket to then skim the water.. And collect the surface debris..It will not clean the bottom of the pool so you would still need and bottom pool cleaner that plugs onto a hose pipe..I write this review as information on set up for the skimmer was difficult..I hope this review helps other's..

So I bought this pool skimmer for my above ground pool and WOW I thought it was amazing and great value for money. So easy to fit and removes anything that is floating around in the pool 10/10 from me for this product and would definitely recommend to anyone you would not be disappointed.

I have the older version of this. The older one has more play to pop up and down and take less water flow to work, where this new version sticks if not enough water flows through it or if looses angle. The 2 fixings are great, as it clamps well on the Helsinki hot tub side

I did not expect this to be much use but wanted something that might keep the bugs and general cack off the surface of the pool. I have an Easy Set 15ft pool and was not really expecting much. If you keep the pool cover on when not in use, you not only keep heat in (or should I say you will will keep it less cold!) but you keep a lot of cack off the surface. When you put the skimmer back on (cant really use it when the cover is on) it takes a while for you to notice the effect of it, but it really does work. Just read the instructions carefully, set the main bucket part at the right height with the 'collar' on correctly and Bob's yer uncle. Keep skimming the pool bottom with a net which makes sure that what has sunk to the bottom gets taken out, or at least stirred up, and your filter will do the rest. Get a chlorine bobber too. Chemicals (the right level) are the only way to keep the water clear of algae. Your filter alone won't do it.

No good for bugs or small grass cuttings. wish I had not got it. And kids keep on knocking it off when playing in the pool. It’s only good for leafs etc size. I don’t have that issue, just bugs and grass etc. I just rinse the filter everyday day with the hose now.It is study and thick plastic, not broken when kicked by kids. So get it if you have surrounding trees as it does stuck up bigger stuff. I did use a sock on it but if like mine the grass went under as it floats and not in via the big opening. Then it still got to the filter anyway.Maybe if I overfilled the pool more it might work better.

Bought the socks and large pump keeps my pool clean

Used with a 12foot metal framed Bestway pool.I bought it to try and catch all the insects that land, drown and sink, and eggs laid on the pool by mosquitos and gnats. These make up 99% of the debris reaching my pool, leaves rarely land there and are much easily picked up with a net while it is slow and unending to pick up insects with a net.It doesn't suck in debriss, mostly the flies clump around the edge of the skimmer and pool edge next to it. This doesn't help me pick them up since as soon as the water is disturbed they disperse and sink.If the skimmer does end up with debris inside the cylindrical cage, the holes are large and will let most of the rubbish through it. Small debris (anything wasp sized or smaller) goes right through those holes back out into the pool.

Very useful as extra cleaning for pool on top of filtering
