poorly written
The book is poorly written with parents interchangeably referred to as mum/ dad and then by first name its hard for a while to figure out whats going on. Its really slow to start and I can't say how it goes on as its been such a drag we haven't got past chapter 10 in weeks. My son is an avid reader and loves David Walliams and Roal Dahl I'd thought I'd try and find an author that is less everything-ist. Whilst I haven't come across any body shaming, racist stereotypes or sexism I haven't come across anything fun or exciting either. My son isn't interested in reading it alone and is instead reading several diary of a wimpy kid books on repeat. The plot so far seems a bit boring and samey I am hoping it gets better. Also so much name and brand name dropping is becoming very jarring.2 stars because honestly I feel bad giving one.

Laugh Out Loud Fun For Me & Son!
We have our own very happy Birthday Boy! This book is laugh out loud funny and has been a great joint read for me and Son, him reading & both of us laughing. So good I bought the other David Baddiel kids books as well for Christmas, can't wait for Son to open and start reading them to me!

Fabulous book!
My little girl(age 9) is HOOKED on these books. Baddiel creates a fabulous fictional world that kids love and understand. This book was fabulous, but then all of his books so far have been.

It is pitched at a perfect level for him
Clever concept of a boy having his birthday every day. Bought for our 8 year old son, who can be overwhelmed by books that are too wordy for him. It is pitched at a perfect level for him.

Great book
My ten year old is a creature of habit, if she likes a book by one author, she will like all their books! She started reading ‘The parent agency’ but she didn’t get to finish it, we are a military family do the book stayed with her old school So Santa got it for her for Christmas, along with all David Baddiel’s books, a funny and enjoyable book.

Thought provoking….
A rather slow start but once the heroine has fell through the portal the humour and entertainment begin, the parrot and the cat certainly get the best lines….very thought provoking with an excellent ending….yep, a good listen…

A fabulous and funny read!
Another fantastically amusing book by David Baddiel. I hope he writes some more as I don't think my nephew will be able to cope as adores his books hugely.
