This was a big package. I know it said 3 lbs, but it was big! My dog loves this treat.
My dog is going through puppy classes for general obedience. I was told to bring "high-value" treats, i.e. "stinky", to get my dog to perform on cue and get rewarded. This brand was particularly recommended by the dog trainer. We have done 5 classes together now and I still have half a roll left, and that's with giving out a LOT of treats during the hour long classes when my dog does what I ask. He loves the taste. I hold it close to his nose to get his undivided attention, then he's watching my hand and listening to me so he can earn the treat. I will say during our leash walking class outside, a squirrel did take his attention away from the treat for a couple minutes. I had to double up to hold his attention. I store the roll in the fridge and cut several discs, and then into smaller pieces, which I then roll into balls. I tried just pinching the small pieces together, but in Colorado's dry air, they became crummy unless I rolled them into tight balls. I kept them in tiny plastic snack bags during class and they didn't dry out. I store them back in the fridge until the next time we want to work on tricks or if I just want to treat my dog for no reason.

I use as a food reward for training.
I can only vouch for the taste by the way my clients' dogs love this food. Haven't tried it myself LOLSeriously, I call it "doggy crack" because every single dog I have given it to goes bonkers over it. My main use of this product is food rewards for positive reinforcement training.

Good for treats
I wouldn’t feed this to my dog as her daily food, but it’s great for training treats, and for hiding pills. She loves the taste of it. It’s more crumbly than it used to be so it’s kind of messy. Very moist. It used to slice in clean cubes now it mushy crumbly cubes.

Best training treat !!!
I have a 5 months old SDiT . All the other handlers are always raving about RB. I didn’t read the reviews because well... I seen it myself and how the puppies love it (we even call it Puppy crack because they will do just about anything to get it as a reward ) after I got it I scrolled down the reviews and thought “oh man what did I buy “ to my surprise it was NOTHING like the reviews . Did it crumble ? Yes but not to the extent that I had to waste it . It’s a semi dry food so it’s going to crack and crumble a little . It’s super easy to form . I used 1 3 pound pack and was able to cut 4 ziplock baggies full . I took the crumble pieces and just squished it together and cut it . I found it easier to cut if I wet the knife first .Definitely worth every penny .

Not good for training treats
I had bought Red Barn before and it was fabulous. It was the one with grain. That was no longer available so I bought this one. Huge mistake. It doesn’t cut into treat size well and crumbles horribly when you try to hold them. My dog was not fond of this one either. Sad that red barn discontinued the other one. Switching to Happy Howies.

My dog loves this but it does crumble badly when cut into cubes
To start off, my dog loves this product. However, I intended to dice it up into cubes for use as a training treat. As I unpackaged the Redbarn meat roll and began to attempt to dice the meat roll into bite sized training treats, it began to crumble right away. Out of the 1lb section I cut from the 3lb roll, approximately 1/3 of pound turned into loose meat crumbs. I had to spend 30 additional minutes smooshing what I cut up into treat sized balls. The product maker claims it can be cubed but, in all honesty, if it crumbles so easily, that is not true. For the money, the roll I received was not worth what i paid. There is too much extra work involved in making treats. In my opinion, this is better as a reward meal or meal additive as opposed to a "cubed" treat.
