Q: Has anyone had any success using this to remove burdock?

I have been using it to loosen up very tight soil. It works very well and I have even up rooted rocks. Our soil is tight here and this thing works good to get it to open up. As I said you get a really good workout with the shoulders. Its sturdy as well.

Q: Would this be effective at turning compost in a bin?

I don't see why it would not work. I use it to turn soil here in Oklahoma and sometimes it can be very hard. Now you will get a good work out but that little sucker can get it on. I have not had a problem with any failure of the device, no rusting or bent blades. Again be prepared for a work out. If you can keep up with the device it can keep up with you. Hope this helps.
