63 Easy-To-Crochet Pattern Stitches: Combine to Make an Heirloom Afghan (Leisure Arts)

Not beginner friendly.
I bought this because I was wanting to learn crochet. Although I am learning, it is not from this book. Eventually I may be able to use it, but for now, I am learning from YouTube. If a beginner, get something that says for beginner or absolute beginner. This book does tell you step by step and what stitches to use, but if you don’t know what any of that is, it’s not helpful.

Good book
Good book but not easy. I woudl say NOT for beginners. You’re still going to have to rely upon YouTube tutorials because the book gives a ton of abbreviations and no explanation as to those abbreviations. Definitely had to look them up. But I do love the patterns in this book.

What a wonderful, easy idea!
I thought this booklet was "63" easy to crochet patterns. It's 63 different stitches. At first I was a little disappointed in myself for not reading the title correctly, but then I realized all 63 stitches are for 63 different granny squares, which are put together to form this amazing afghan. It's so beautiful! When I make the square of a particular stitch, I'm planning on making 5 squares, in the same stitch. This way I can block them out overnight and make 5 new squares in a different stitch. By the time I've done all 63 stitches, I'll have enough squares (blocked and ready to go) to sew up 5 of these large afghans, one for each of my kids. I can't wait to start this! The finished product looks absolutely beautiful AND I'm learning new stitches to use in future blankets! I LOVE this booklet / pattern!

Good book
Great book .. so far I made 4 of the squares . The instructions were easy to follow . some of the square are truly beautiful and each have the stitch multiples, so one can make more than squares if desired... I'm giving it a four because some of the pictures are grainy and hard to see .Also pictures and instructions for related squares are not on the same page. Annoying having to flip back and forth if you want a visual reference.

Lovely afghan
When the book is a little hard to follow, it’s easy to YouTube the solution! It’s almost like a game, can I do the square without a video? Who knows, let’s bet on it! I’m editing it to show the finished blanket. It took about 5 months and all my love! I think it turned out lovely. I recommend sticking with it, once you finish the first one the second is much faster. Good luck fellow crochet enthusiast!

Almost as good as the older version
I wanted this book to replace my 30 year old version of the same thing. I really wish this book was laid out like the one one. It had the picture of each stitch with its instructions. Each stitch has its own page, so it was easier to look at the picture as I read the instructions. I also miss the full, flat picture of the completed afghan on the back, so I could better see how it had been sewn together. If you ever make these changes please let me know. I would love to have it!

One Book, 63 patterns, Hundreds of Projects
Whether beginner or advanced, 63 Easy-To-Crochet Pattern Stitches offers patterns to last a lifetime. I purchased this book because I saw the finished product in the Winner's Circle at the Texas State Fair a few years ago. Since then, I have completed at least 30 of the patterns or "squares." This book is filled with unique patterns that are textured styles, creating the sophisticated appearance of knitting. For example, there are several post-stitch and cable-stitch patterns that can be easily converted into contemporary sweaters and scarves. Each pattern is written in multiples so that you can decide whether to crochet a square, scarf, afghan, sweater or more. As an instructor, I use this book to teach newbies and enthusiasts who enjoy the challenge of a new pattern. It is easy to simply look at the photos of each of the 63 patterns and decide which ones catch your eye, then follow the brief, well-written instructions. For those who enjoy assembling a massive project, the finished cover afghan is a delight.

So easy to understand instructions
I buy several of these books as I always give them to new crocheters. I find the diagrams in them are very clear and easy to explain what stitch you are working on and what to do. For me, they are the best book around for crocheting! I gave one to my 10 year old granddaughter but I have also given them to adults, and they all seem to really like this book, not only for the instructions but also for the variety of patterns inside as well, from very basic stitches (single, double, half double. treble stitches) to what looks like fancy patterns that are fairly easy to make.
