Wonderful resource for design work

This is such a cool book for sourcing material and for getting your own inspiration for artwork. Even if you are not into dragons etc, it still opens you to ideas and thought processes rather than those awful ‘tutor books’ that close you down and fix you to a specific generic method or style.

This is a FANTASTIC collection of Renaissance and 17th/18thC drawings of mythological beasts, predominantly dragons, munching, chomping, snarling and toasting various heroes and maidens that get in their way. The fine detail reproduction quality of these prints, all from archival sources, is excellent. A must have book for anyone interested in drawings of the Renaissance imagination. Forget Rowling. This is THE book of fantastic beasts and is the place where you'll find them.

This is a high-quality book full of fabulous illustrations. As I'm an Art teacher this has proven invaluable as reference material for my classes. You are able to print out high-resolution images of great quality. I also enjoy the emails on fascinating subjects and reference material...great book!

The drawing on the cover has been one of my favorite drawings of all time! What I didn't know was that it was part of a story and other drawings depicting different angles of the same event. I had seen a few of the other drawing in the book before, but most were new to me. I really enjoy looking through the book to find ideas or just themes to practice drawing. I'd say, the book is worth the purchase!
