Q: Where are these made?

They're made in the US. Tennesse i think. the black carbon uses French technology, but not sure those are made in US.

Q: What is the food grade varnish used?

I’m not certain what they used when initially making these utensils, but in the instructions that come with the utensils I believe it said they could be touched up with a little bit of oil such as cooking oil. I’ve used a little bit of olive oil and they look beautiful.

The product uses raw lacquer, a milky-white, all-natural liquid coating harvested from the lacquer tree, as it was previously stated. It is non-toxic and harmless, and after coming into touch with air, it progressively turns brown.

I ordered these wooden utensils to avoid toxins. Surprisingly, the item I received was different and covered in chemicals. I requested a return, and they refunded me less than half of its price.
