Three Bird Feeding Tips I Learned, and as to the Food? It's Worth the Price.
I have been feeding birds for ages. My parents fed birds. We are bird people! I will say it took me a while to adapt to a few things that have changed my whole bird feeding view, especially after having running battles with squirrels for a very long time. So, here goes:1. I bought a Slinky. Yes, all those videos about using Slinkys on your poles to keep the squirrels at bay do work. Since adding them to our two poles, the squirrels just looking longingly up but no matter how much they try, they have not figured out how to defeat it.2. I bit the bullet, after reading many reviews, to pay more for a no-waste bird food. This food is more expensive then other brands, but let me give it the praise it deserves: I go through MUCH LESS food now. Why? Because the birds are not pushing the garbage seeds out to get to what they want. In addition, for some of the birds, like the nuthatches, that only like certain seeds, the ones they still push out are eaten by the juncos and sparrows, as well as the squirrels who poke around underneath the feeder. I have two feeders, and it's been a month and I still have half a bag left of this bird food. Also, I moved the feeders up to our deck, and there is NO SEED LEFT underneath. It is all eaten by other birds or squirrels. No clean up. The juncos will even go under the deck to check for any seed that feel through. I am a true believer now of spending a little more for a much better result, as the value you get per pound is fantastic.3. I bought capscasin suet squares. A little more per pack, but birds are not bothered and the squirrels learn quickly to avoid them. I now have woodpeckers and chickadees happily feeding away without competing with the squirrels. Another example of spend a $1 more and use less overall. So, as to the seed, RUN don't WALK to order this stuff. It is well made, seems fresh, and it's just a good value for your dollar in the long run.

Great Product!
My backyard birds love this bird seed and it really is waste free. It seems a little pricey up front but between no mess to clean up under the feeder and very little waste it's actually a good deal coming in at $2.67 per pound.

No clean up.
The cardinals love the food. Ground feeders finish the cleanup.

Definitely don't use in a tray. One star size for that.
I'm very much between a 3 and a 4 on this so I rounded up since I will continue to buy it. That said, if you are planning to put this in a tray feeder (even one with a cover) I would highly suggest against buying it as I would give it a solid 0 stars as a tray feeder food. This is because all the tray feeders I have used need to have pieces that are large enough to not blow away in the wind and that are big enough to stand up to at least some moisture. Because even the covered tray feeders can't block sideway rain or a solid mist.Problem is that these pieces are WAY too small to handle any kind of moisture at all. They will happily blow away in the breeze as well, and they clump up HORRIBLY if it is even a little damp. Originally, I had planned to give it a 1 star review specifically because I was trying to use it in a covered tray feeder and if I didn't realize it was going to rain later in the day I always had a clogged mess on my hands.BUT, I realized that it was such small pieces that it might actually work in one of my squirrel (and dove) proof feeders instead and have been using it there exclusively instead. It works pretty well actually. It does have some pieces that are too big and then the feeder gets clogged (which is annoying) but overall it flows through easily and the quality and variety of the mix are excellent so I'll keep buying it for that specific feeder.

The Lyric brand is very high quality but pricing is all over the place
Sometimes i cannot afford this product depending on when or where i might buy it. Prices fluctuate a lot. This is my favorite of their line because the nuts are all finely chopped and flow easily through my bird feeder. Interesting that the only thing left in the feeder is the pistachio chips. Doves, cardinals and wrens eat all but that. On the plus side, there is no filler like millet or corn. Because it is pricy, I buy sunflower chips in 50 pound bags to dilute this product so it lasts longer. That allows this 15 pound bag last a few weeks. If price went down, then I would not have to dilute because the product is wonderful.

Best feed
After trying various waste-free seed over the years, this one proves to be the winner. Certainly no mess. Not a bag of pulverized seed dust nor a bag of mostly millet, with a few nuts tossed. This is a 15lb bag (much easier for this senior to lift) of good-size chunks of dried fruit and virtually every bird seed you can think of. The larger birds, flickers, larger woodpeckers, jays, and the bitty birds, chickadees, titmice, juncos, finches, wrens, sparrows, nuthatches can all easily grab and go. This also allows for above birds to drop enough on the ground for squirrels' and chipmunks' scavenging success. Works in all our different feeders. Have just placed our next order for this seed!

DISAPPOINTED - PRODUCT HAS CHANGED
I have previously bought this product from both Chewy as well as Amazon. When I received the lastshipment from Amazon, I found the mixture to be disappointedly different. I use Lyric FINETunes for the smaller birds and use feeders with the smaller ports at the bottom that expels the seed. When I opened a bag from the last Amazon shipment, I noticed the mixture is different in that largepieces of broken almonds have now been added. I feed the smaller birds and use feeders with small ports. The almonds are too large to fit through the ports and prevent the smaller seeds from dropping through. In order to use the seed, I had to use a flowerpot with small holes to actually sift out the almonds, Now I have to use a food processor to chop into smaller pieces. A real pain. Why couldn't fine tunes take this step? Otherwise, this is quality product and worth the extra $$$

My Lyric Tunes kernel blend brings the birds to the yard…
Seriously good stuff…smells so good you could put it out with the snacks at a dinner party and I don’t think anyone would notice. Haven’t tried it myself, but I wouldn’t blame you if you did. The birds can go through 15lbs in just a few days. I just wish it was a little cheaper!
