Great wind power project

The media could not be loaded. The unit is easy to assemble and the wiring is straightforward. What is not apparent is that user must design and build the tower and weld the bottom plate to a piece of pipe. That by itself is more expensive than the turbine. Then connectors, wires etc. Raising the tower with the turbine is a hell of a deal, particularly if you want to reach the recommended height. It is a great experience though and the turbine look good. The product support is fantastic and very responsive. If you need parts, they will send them.

Wind energy DIY

The product is good, sturdy and easy to assemble. Mounting it on a pole was quite daunting because one has to have a solid base. The blades rotate nicely and generate power. I bought 400 watts Li-ion batteries, red-black #12 gauge wire to connect from the turbine to batteries. Connected the batteries to 400 watt inverter to run the devices.Have contacted the customer service/support and was prompt and responsive with providing help by answering questions.

Does work, but remember real conditions probably 100watts with wind.

It is well made product. Fairly easy to assemble with the exception of figuring out what type of pole setup you'll do. Real output will not be 400 continuous watts. It has to be perfect when conditions and power will generate as long as wind keeps going. In my setup it's additional on top of solar.

Nice lawn ornament. PRODUCES MINIMAL POWER! NOT WORTH THE EFFORT TO INSTALL!!!

Sturdy construction, relatively easy to assemble, (the base mount requires welding though). Not too loud in high wind, but it produces almost no power. The best I was able to get out of this in the highest winds, was only 23Watts. I even swiped its own controller with a Renogy MPPT and the output was the same. WHAT A WASTE!

Decent quality for cheap product. Check for cuts in wire...

The media could not be loaded. Excited to use a combination of wind and sun, we ordered this product. No manual available online only the included paper.Initially noticed metal shavings in the paint job had me concerned. 3 (very short 4") red wires coming out of the bottom of the unit were slightly cut where it exits the base plate which would cause a short to ground. The plate has sharp edges and was not chamfered. I repaired by individual shrink tubing around each wire and one large heat shrink around the whole bundle where exits the base. The base plate (flange) bolt holes were too close to use with the 2" ridgid pipe so smaller stainless hardware was used. Supplied flange hardware is not stainless steel and will corrode.Charge controller had a bubble under the label but appears to be new. Wire leads were also very short 6" and are not replaceable as this unit is sealed.Vibrations are apparent but only at low speeds. Unit powered up and produced very low energy but did keep battery bank from depletion overnight which was the primary purpose for purchasing and installing. If this unit doesnt fail in 1 year or if it catches fire I will update again. Would recommend for the price to use at your own risk, check wires for damage and test continuity. And remember to make quality welds and protect with galvanized paint.Spent an additional $100.00 for 10' 2" ridgid pipe, strut, strut straps, and boot for roof penetration. Used PV wire and waterproof butt splices withan inline fuse holder.

As expected

This turbine has supplemented my solar enough to nearly eliminate the need for my backup generator to be run.... Without appliances or television. The initial charge controller never worked, however, customer service sent a replacement very quickly.I am unsure about the amount of charge being received, and given the charging capabilities, This is definitely not a primary charging option. Wind that charges at 5-20 amps, over maybe 5-15 minutes, really will not provide much of a charge at all. However, 24 hours (or a couple hours)of high winds has the capability to charge very nicely.

Good and bad

Pros-windmill well constructed, works as expected Cons; you will need to have a pole welded to the mounting flange. This set me back another $50 for the weld (in addition to the heavy duty pole/pipe. The unit came with a defective charge controller which had the brake on always(I have seen this in other reviews. The seller quickly replaced and it is functioning fine now. The seller is obviously a ESL speaker and it was difficult to communicate but they responded VERY quickly.

INSTALLED ON SAILBOAT

Great product so far. I installed this on my sailboat at the very stern. I had the base welded to an iron pipe ($20 weld). I also added an additional 2" of fiberglass over the deck 12" around the base of the pole (4" total), then ran a single 8' iron pipe all the way through the deck, bolted through with top and bottom flanges. Then ran 4 guy wires from 6' up the pole to the deck. Once the pole was installed, installing the turbine was easy. I'm using the turbine to charge a 2-battery bank in parallel and a 3000W inverter. Consistent power draw with VHF's, stereo, bilge pumps, a 2.5 cubic ft fridge, phone chargers, etc.......is 200-300W. In 10MPH winds or higher, the turbine provides enough charge to maintain battery charge. Lower than that, I can cycle the inverter off and maintain. I intend to add 600W in solar panels to the turbine soon.
