Smells awful, is amazing.
I bought this because our kid leaves the back door open from spring to fall and our house ends up full of flies. I purchased this and put it 3 feet from our back door and it’s been life changing. In a week, only one fly has gotten in the house. The fly catcher has caught at least 50 (if not more! I’m not counting them.) I’ll be buying refills ASAP.That said: the smell isn’t great and I absolutely wouldn’t use this indoors. But outside, it’s spread out and less noticeable. And totally worth it for the benefit.

#MurderingFlies
OMG this thing is amazing! We are using it at our cottage on the lake and we have always had a lot of flies buzzing around, but I actually purchased this hoping it would get rid of the sand flies/fleas/gnats that are so annoying in the spring/early summer. I am sad to say this does NOT work for those, but it is INCREDIBLE how well it works for the regular annoying flies!!!I originally purchased a 3-pack of the quart'ish size containers that had a bait and chain included with each trap. I mixed up the bait as instructed and agree with many of the reviewers that this smells, so I brought them outside to fill the next two. I immediately had flies attracted to the trap while filling them!!! It says to wait a couple hours before placing the traps (guessing to let the bait dissolve), which I only did the first time because it stinks up the house. I hung the traps and within hours every trap had so many flies I couldn't even count them!! By the next day they were 3/4 full in the morning, so I added some water (not fun when there are flies swarming around you as you do this) and by the evening, the traps were filled to the brim!!! I then ordered three more traps to increase the coverage on our property, but sadly I did not check the description close enough because the 3 I ordered did not come with chains, just the trap and one bait pack each.Luckily we have some wooded land on our property, so I just take the full traps out back and fling all the dead carcasses back there. With as fast as these traps are filling, there is no way I can possible remove the carcasses and reuse the bait again, nor would I even want to try because it really smells like death has truly warmed over...so gross!! I cannot imagine cleaning the traps either, until the end of the year when I put them away for the season. Thankfully I had purchased some refill bait packets (StarBar brand) when I got the traps originally, and I highly recommend doing this if you are buying the traps. These refills smell the same as the Fly Magnet bait and are almost more effective, because I am refilling my traps within 24 hours!!! The StarBar refills have way more bait than the Fly Magnet came with, so (being thrifty) I am going to try and use 1/3 of the bait refill in each trap to see if it works just as well as a full pack does. I figure it smells the same, so they will be attracted to it. I will find out today if this works!I highly recommend this product for anyone trying to rid themselves of flies. Again, this does not work on sand flies/fleas/gnats, but it does an amazing job on flies. I am interested to find out if they work on the hornets, yellow jackets and other non-honey bees as one of the reviewers stated. If that is the case, I am buying a bunch of these for my home as our fruit trees are magnets for bees in the late summer/fall. If I could, I would give this 10 stars it is so amazing!!! I never review products, but this one deserves all the accolades they can get! Wish I invented it!!!

Works Like a Champ
I was very skeptical of how well this trap would work, so I only bought one, and was very non-committal about the whole thing. When I set it up though, my entire perspective changed. This thing works. It works so well it's actually pretty unbelievable. Within the first hour I had more than 20 flies in it. I have pets in my yard, and every house on my block has at least one dog, so there is a big problem with flies in my neighborhood. After using this trap with the SAME BAIT for about a month, I have noticed a very significant reduction in the number of flies we have to deal with during a BBQ. Before the trap, we would have to set the trash can across the yard because the flies would be so intense that we couldn't comfortably eat. Now, we may see one or two around the table. The rest of them are infatuated with the bait. There are a couple of issues you should be aware of. First, having a quart of dead flies is disgusting. Especially since flies don't care about their larvae eating other dead flies, so you will eventually get maggots in the trap if you don't empty it after about two weeks, or whenever the fly level gets past the waterline. Second, the bait doesn't smell so bad inside the trap at first, but once you start combining that with the large number of dead flies you can accumulate in a short time, it can get overwhelming. By the time I emptied the trap, I couldn't place it within about 40 ft of our BBQ spot, so it was almost outside of the useful radius. When you empty it, of course, you have to add a new bait packet, so the lesser of two evils and all that. Third, you're going to need more than one trap. Although it does work very well, it can't cover your whole yard, unless you live in a residence with basically no yard.Lastly, the plastic that the white portion is made of doesn't last more than a month in the Texas sunshine and heat. This could apply to the black plastic as well. A few days ago I went to move the trap, which was sitting in the grass, accidentally tipped it over, and the center square of the white plastic just completely separated at the seams. there was no cracking or discoloration to indicate this would happen. The trap still works in theory, but obviously there is a need for some better material selection.

Really good to keep flies out. Would not recommend to try to reuse, super stinky
Not really reusable. I almost threw up while throwing out, but works wonders, lasted me 15 days and reduced the number of flies from like 10 a day to maybe 1 or 2
