great compact tinder
I think that this tinder fills a void for good compact tinder. If you have a little more room then vasaline cotton balls are the way to go .In a small tin these are flat enough and take a spark well. I would recomend carrying them even if you do have the cotton balls because they are small enough and cheap enough for there to be no down side.

You need these in your emergency bag.
Ever wait so long to stop and build a fire that your fingers were too numb to work well? Tinder-Quick is for the time you really need a fire and you need it NOW!Rough up the ends of the Tinder-Quick and shoot a spark into it or touch a match or lighter to it, and you have that potentially life-saving fire. I keep some in my Altoid tin-sized PSK (Personal Survial Kit) along with three fire building systems, and also in my always-packed emergency preparedness backpack. This way, I can just grab & go if I need to.Tinder-Quick is inexpensive, very small, and still lights after at least a year. No more sticky slimy Vaseline cotton balls for me.

Works great
These are a staple in the camping bag. I've found them to be very effective when starting a campfire. Place one (or two) under a bit of tinder, strike a match and build your fire from there. Simple but effective.

excellent lightweight fire starter
I use a light-my fire swedish fire steel scout with these little gems and could not be more happy with the results. just a few sparks and these babies light right up without any coaxing. They really do burn for about 2 minutes or can be cut half to make them last longer in a pinch. All you have to do is fray one end to expose the individual fibers and one spark later you have fire!

They are OK
These are ok. They are small and compact, but once lite they only last for a couple minutes. Good enough to get something going in an emergency if you had dry tinder, but I don't think they could help if the tinder were wet. They claim to be water proof and that is true, as long as they are not in water too long. I soaked them in water for about an hour and there was not a dry space I could find. I think they would work well in certain emergencies, but I wouldn't bet my life in these.

Excellent product
This item works as promised, even when soaking wet. I use them with my ferro rod and have always had sure fire in just about any weather condition. They are a little expensive as compared to the orig 4 seasons survival Spark Lite / Tinder Quick, but, they will save your butt in a bad situation. I keep two in each of my survival kits, with my bushcraft knife and in my pocket. I never leave the house w/o a way to cut (usually a SAK Farmers Knife) and a way to make fire (Tinder quick and fewrro rod).

Great Little Stuff - Catches Spark
This is a great little tinder. Probably some type of cotton coated with a wax accelerant. If you Frey the ends it will catch a spark quite nicely and burn for about 2 mins. The package says it's waterproof, but I hesitate to say that. If soaked in water, then lit it will not catch a spark. You can pull it apart and hope the inner core is still somewhat dry. In this case, it would catch a spark. Or, if you let it dry for a while, it would probably catch a spark. Overall, not bad tinder.

Got this for my daughter and I
These really work well and easy to carry using ranger bands on the paracord bracelet.
