Living in an apartment presents challenges when it comes to cooling and fresh air circulation. This product allows for cross-drafting in architecture that has windows on only one side of residential units. So, I got the airflow I desired by installing the Magnetic Door Stopper to hold the door open while preventing unwanted entry and the door being blown open too far by a gust of wind. To prevent nosy passers-by from eye raping my privacy I added a swing arm curtain rod and a weighted black partially beaded curtain. The stop had to be mounted such that it does not engaged every time the door is opened since I placed it to allow only a nine inch opening. To achieve this I mounted the upper part at a point that required me to press down on the door mounted piece with my foot to place it just so it engages the magnet. It works perfectly!I am of the mindset that the design and low profile of the stopper won't negatively impact my deposit when we leave this complex in the future. We were actually looking for a totally different type of door stop but this one ended up being really nice. The installation was very easy and it worked very well. I love the fact it catches to the bottom very nicely and you can hear it click when it catches. It is a very sleek design and most importantly, it will not put a hole in the door or allow the knob to put a hole in the wall.. We will be ordering more.

This product has a design flaw and can’t work as a door holder as claimed. See the attached picture. In order to hold the door, the magnetic engagement between the magnet and the metal plate has to be full contact. Due to the angle between the magnet and its chassis, the chassis has to be installed pretty high in order to get a full contact with the lower metal plate when sucked up. However the metal plate cannot get sucked up at all if the magnet is so high above. So this product can’t work as a door holder. It may work for a door stopper but awkwardly. I’m going to return it.

This product came as specified. Had a very strong magnet, and very good design. What I would say most sure that your door isn’t too high off the ground. Otherwise the doorstop works like a charm! You can either use tape or the screws that are supplied. And it comes with two! It’s a great deal for the price!

I attached the door mounted piece properly, about 1/2" above the floor, yet the magnet is not strong enough to lift the tab. Moving the door mounted piece lower until the magnet engages results in the angle being wrong, and the catch does not "catch"--the door sweeps past the lifted tab, because the tab and magnet are not flush.

I got this for my bathroom door in my master bedroom. The shower and toilet are in a tiny room where you can't even close the door without getting inside the shower. This replaced the door stopper I have been using and works great and looks much nicer. I used the adhesives and was able to set it up in a minute.
