Awesome bang for the buck....
Second "wellmaking" product i have gotten ! Have been impressed with the Bang for the Buck quality ! This snoot does everything as advertised... Weak points ? ... the little knob to adjust the focus tends to "wander" a bit when you adjust it... I put a small washer under it and that helped a lot.... I wish the Iris was "rounder" when closing it up... I get it... for the price/and the ammount of blades it has... im sure its an economic thing... but it doesnt make a perfect hard edge circle at different diameters... (unfocused who cares but for hard edge it is "so so"... Again for the price ? its a fair deal ! build quality is solid.. Would be nice if one day they could add an accessory or a DIY modification accessory to add the 4 way "flags/blades" somehow so you could adjust/flag/the shape of light totally custom anyway you want like some of the higher end units... ? perhaps mechinism that could slide into the gobo slot ? ... would be very useful... But again this thing for the money is awesome... nice job ! Recently purchased the 40w vid light and have been very pleased with that for the price as well ! 30 years shooting weddings, so far so good first time ever using this company's products !

Proabably best bang for the bucks
PROScomes with projection lenscomes with gobosCONSlens loses focus on the edgesthe gobo holder does not hold the gobos wellcannot easily rotate the gobo patternthe included gobos patterns are not good enoughfocusing stickyMy main goal is to project a sun through the window look on the wall. This wellmaking snoot kind of does it but leaves more to be desired.Firstly, the gobo holder has two spring metal strips to hold the gobo in place. Except the spring metal strips are not very springy and become loose after I put in and remove a few gobos (first 2 days). Now the gobos would fall out of the holder unless I keep the holder in an upright orientation. If you want to rotate the pattern, there is no easy way. You have to take out the gobo holder, rotate the gobo in the holder, then put the gobo holder back into the snoot. If you focus the pattern sharply on the wall, the center portion would be in focus but the edges would be out of focus. This is actually OK with me because I want the whole pattern to be out of focus. The fact that some areas are more out of focus than others is not a problem. If you look at how outside light project onto a perpendicular wall through the window, they form a parallelogram, not a rectangle. Of all the gobos supplied, most are rectangular; only one is parallelogram shaped and it is not the one I want most -- windows blinds.I have never used a snoot like this before, so I can't compared it to others; but intuition tells me there must be better ones out there. However if you have limited budget, this may work ok.P.S. I checked out various competitions and concluded the wellmaking unit, at its price, is a pretty good deal. I'll deal with the limitations

Also, the Wellmaking customer service is excellent! I had a little problem with my delivery on my end and they came through so fast and beyond my expectations!

Does what you need it to do but...
Ordered this product and I gave it 3 stars for a reason (see update below). Build quality is not too bad. The one that I have a complaint about is the fresnel lens in the design. It seems the fresnel lens is made of some sort of plastic instead of glass. Unfortunately, I didn't find this out till later when I was putting the product away....that I noticed something not right about it. It had a refractive look and I also noticed that there was an opening to one side. It melted from the modeling lamp. I have a Bowens Prolite series which has a long 3" cylindrical modeling lamp which may have been too close to the fresnel lens inside the unit. I may have to replace it with a glass version of it if I can find one that is not thick unless Wellmaking can send me a replacement lens. Will keep you all posted.UPDATE: Wellmaking contacted me and asked me for photos which I sent and we found the problem. My Bowen’s light had a deep socket (marked in red with arrow) along with a very long modeling lamp which caused the melting for being too close to the lens. They sent me a replacement unit and a replacement lens if I wanted to tinker with it. So, I got great customer service for a flaw that was from my light not theirs. I modified the review to 5 stars. (No, they didn’t ask me to do this review. I am doing it on my own volition.)
