Q: Can you remove these shells once you have fitted them? I wanted to practice on an old controller first, then remove it and put it on a new joycon

Yes, though I would be extremely careful with the screws, and buy a good quality Y00 screwdriver separately to remove the screws. The screwdriver supplied with the kit has a tendency to shred the screws real easy.

The package includes a set of replacement housing shells, buttons, and a set of toolsets.

Q: From reading the reviews, I don't want to use the tools provided. What screwdrivers are needed? And is there any additional tools that will help?

Hello, replacing these requires a 1.5mm PH00 screwdriver, and a 1.5mm Y00 screwdriver.

Q: Could you just put the shells on and not the other stuff?

No unfortunately it’s not that easy, but it’s not overly complicated the only advice I can give when changing the shells is don’t force anything together or apart, do one at a time as one side is more difficult than the other and watch some videos on YouTube. I found it easy to do but I’m a IT geek, once you’ve done it you will probably do it again. Hope that helps.
