Excellent value, not uncivilized, simple, and will last a long time
You've heard the hype about glasspacks. They're loud. They make your exhaust sound raspy and awful.Neither fear came true. This is as quiet as the OEM muffler was, and as quiet as a generic "turbo" muffler was, for my 1980 Buick 4.1L V6. The tone is slightly more aggressive, just barely - but not a decibel louder. The unobstructed design (without the angled ends you could wear it on your arm) means you can be sure there is no backpressure whatsoever caused by the muffler, even if it starts to rust, and even if upstream rust arrives it won't lodge in the muffler. All that for a great price! My car has the muffler mounted mid-body with a long tailpipe curled over the rear axle, and I still expect it would have a greater effect on sound with a shorter straighter tailpipe.I've had it for most of a year and amazingly, despite car-rotting regular winter driving on salty New England roads, there's no major rust, just light surface rust in spots where paint has been damaged.A note on backpressure in exhaust systems and its effect on power and fuel economy:There are a few common schools of thought on these issues, mostly misinformed. Some people think that OEM exhaust systems obstruct flow enough to reduce fuel economy or power output; neither is the case, as exhaust is a thoroughly mature technology that is easy to design with very little compromise. Other people think that backpressure is necessary for torque; in fact, what is needed is Exhaust Gas Velocity (EGV), which comes from using the correct diameter of pipe (not too wide) but does NOT come from obstruction of any type.As such, this muffler or any other won't make a difference on most modern cars unless you have heavily modified the engine and entire exhaust system.Even in systems where a muffler can make a difference, the amount of difference it can make is a fraction of the margin of error available to regular folks for power and fuel economy.

1996 Jeep Cherokee 4.0
Very sturdy, Half the volume and twice the weight of the stock muffler.Nice tone when you get on it, louder but not obnoxiously loud. It's a little shorter then the stock muffler so you'll need to make up a short extension if you're going to fit it to a stock exhaust.I recomend using 2 clamps on the intake side. The steel on the Cat and the muffler are both very heavy and you really need to sock the clamps down to get a solid seal.

The sound was great
The product was great. Just some bending on the orifices that I needed to straighten out. But good product for my 1955 Oldsmobile super 88

Good quality stuff; does exactly what it's supposed to do!
I had been searching for a glass pack to replace the rusty muffler in my 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee and possibly make it a little louder. Obviously you have to know what you are doing if you plan to install it yourself, I had to use a hacksaw to cut both sides of my old muffler off and use clamps & adapters to make it fit. If you don't wan't to do that, take it to a muffler shop and let them weld it all together. After my installation my truck sounded much louder and better, no check engine light, and oddly enough, I get 1-2mpg better on gas mileage! I recommend it.

Classic sound, great quality
Great sounding muffler. Used to replace a stock “quiet muffler”. Adds just enough volume and gives that classic cherry bomb low rumble.
