Installing / directions is fine, but because the product itself has Thin and Thick spots, it will grab and pull. If you have the ability to remove the Windows and laying flat without risking break glass I found that to be much easier. It looks good no, it is not a security feature from up close. If you walk up to the window from outside you could definitely see in. If somebody was walking by on the street or looking over a fence they would not be able to make out much.
